rosie & pj have a hot day
rosie and pj like to play
but it's super sticky hot today
not a cloud in the sky
not a breeze in the air
hot sun, hot sun everywhere
i wanna drink!....please can we swim!
we find a river and they both jump in
splash and swirl
quiet! ...there's a fish!
close your eyes and make a wish
next stop icecream...its cold and fun
sit on a bench away from the sun
licking and slurping
passing the time
yum yum..you wanna try mine?
time to head home...to the shade of the deck
we stay up too late ...oh! ...what the heck
no plans tomorrow
and too hot to sleep
another fun day with memories to keep

they love each other bunches
but are each the other's foe
...rosie took my hockey stick!!!
...pj broke my doll!!
rosie slams her bedroom door
stranding pj in the hall
he knocks and calls her name
she refuses and ignores
he turns to cars and trucks
and the roads upon his floors
finally the door is opened,
they play wherever they choose
they find their groove, their space, their zone
and a playful peace ensues
its like this everyday
the testing, to and fro
learning how to love and play

...this is a poem I wrote for a project Rosemary's teacher had us do... we had to share what we thought made our kids so special...

A letter of sorts, perhaps a poem
to share what sets our hearts awhirl
from the day you were born, you’ve been sweet and bright
bringing smiles to all around
you are happy and sharing, funny and smart

she's done the trip to the dentist
- they srubbed every tooth clean
whir woosh brush, floss,
a new toothbrush made for a queen
she's done the practice bus ride
- they learn about safety rule by rule...
titter, giggle, hold hands, wave
drive a loop and are back at the school
she's done the grown up haircut
- a bouncy bob so blonde
snip snip chat - chat snip snip
of the new look she's very fond
she's got some of the things she needs
- like her brand new barbie lunch box
still more clothes shopping to do
cool jeans, sweaters, shoes and socks
she's as shiny as a penny
- there is a sparkel in her eye
she's starting school next week
and so many new things to try!!!

graduation day
i'm all dressed up in cap and gown
i stand in my spot (i'd love to sit down)
we sing songs that we've learned and poems that we know
we wave at our families and go on with the show
i'm with my whole class, our teachers are so proud
i wait and listen for my name to be called
i walk to the front, i carry flowers for my mom
i get a certificate, and a photo book to remember the fun
we all get our turn, we finish to lots of clapping and cheers
the grown ups seem happy but why are there tears?
next comes the best part! cookies, cake, cheesies, and a drink
then more treats at home, chips, pop ... boy...it makes me think
it's a very special day for me, so i have been told
its my preshool graduation and i am 5 years old
